Connect a PayPal account
In the Shopify admin, open PalSync and select Settings.
In PayPal settings, select Add another PayPal account.
At PayPal, sign in to the account that receives payments for this Shopify store.
Approve the requested access and return to Shopify.
Verify that the payer appears in the list and becomes Active.
Repeat for every account that can receive a store transaction.
Reconnect or re-authorize
A password change, PayPal security review, permission change, token expiry, or manual revocation can make an account inactive. Use Add another PayPal account and authorize the same receiving account again. Then refresh the affected Orders or Disputes workflow.
Read the account rows
Active: PalSync has a usable authorization for new work.
Inactive: do not expect new transaction lookup or dispute refresh to succeed for that account.
Default: the account PalSync treats as the store's preferred account. This does not move a transaction between PayPal accounts.
Order count: operational context for how many store records are associated with the payer.
Before disconnecting
Connect the replacement first. Disconnecting revokes the stored local credentials and stops new PayPal retrieval for that payer. Existing dispute records and audit history are preserved so the past case sequence remains reviewable.
If matching still fails
Confirm which PayPal account actually captured the payment. Record the Shopify order number, PayPal transaction ID, receiving PayPal account, account state shown in Settings, and the exact PalSync error. Do not repeatedly reconnect unrelated accounts.
